Caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and raspberry coulis are pretty much the common trinity of dessert condiments. Don’t get me wrong, I love all three but it would be nice to see other options out there! So I say screw them and make an incredibly simple fresh blueberry sauce. In 5 minutes you will have a delicious sauce that can be used on your desserts or even during breakfast (think French toast, waffles, and pancakes slathered with this saucy syrupy blueberry-y goodness!). My family loves this recipe, and I know you will too!

2 cups blueberries

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla

In a sauce pan over medium-low heat add the blueberries and sugar. Stirring every so often, cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the blueberries burst open and you get a sauce like consistency (similar to when you make cranberry sauce). Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla.

Serve and enjoy!
