This is my blackened seasoning recipe! The balance of savory spiciness is balanced nicely so it doesn’t offend my mom (who dislikes spice) but satiates me (who loves fire!). At my house, we primarily blacken fish, but this spice rub can be used to blacken any protein.

 

1 tablespoon paprika

1 teaspoons onion powder

½ teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon curry powder

¼ teaspoon cumin

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

⅛ teaspoon cinnamon

 

Mix all the spices in a bowl until thoroughly combined.
