I love salad, but sometimes it taste a little extra to get my family excited for salad as the main meal. That’s why I make a tortilla bowl…if fancy shmancy restaurants do it, why not make it at home?! It’s so simple but everyone will think you’re a genius. Use any flavored tortilla you like – they all turn out amazing.
Large tortillas
Oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic and chili powder (optional)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Brush tortillas with oil on both sides. I use about half a teaspoon per side.
Put a small oven-safe dish onto a baking sheet (I use a small metal mixing bowl…a ball of foil will also work). Press the tortilla onto the dish, “molding” it into the shape of a bowl. Hold for a few seconds so the shape stays. Remove your hands and sprinkle the tortilla with seasonings. Repeat for another tortilla (I make two per baking sheet).
Place baking sheet into the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven, take your tortilla shells off and cool. Fill with salads, soups, stews, chilies, or anything else you wish!
Enjoy!
