I guess I’m being lazy this week, cause Monday’s recipe only had two ingredients too. Whatever haha.
Everyone’s always talking about bacon and chocolate. I mean, come on, you can’t go anywhere online without hearing about bacon and chocolate this, bacon and chocolate that. Even I’m not immune to this never-ending craze. But let’s face it, the fad never ends because it’s so freakin’ good. That being said, sometimes even great combinations need to be switched up. So…what if we could pair another salty, savory food with chocolate. Would we? Well, I’ve been wondering about it for a while, so I thought it would be fun to mix sun-dried tomatoes with melted semi sweet chocolate….and guess what, it wasn’t half bad!
Unfortunately my dad is observing Lent right now sooo he wasn’t able to try this bark out (he gave up everything and anything sweet…craziness). But since my mom and I are nonpracticing heathens, we dug in. It’s fun to try new things!
**When you make this recipe, use sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil (they’re softer and more manageable than the dry variety).**
4-5 sundried tomatoes
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Pat dry the sun-dried tomatoes to get rid of any excess oil. Then mince them.
Slowly melt the chocolate over a double boiler. Mix in the minced tomatoes. Pour onto a parchment paper lined plate. Spread into a thin layer.
Refrigerate for 10-20 minutes, or until set and cool.
Break into pieces and enjoy!

This sounds delicious and it’s something I never would have imagined working out. I guess chocolate makes everything taste better? ;)

Kinda haha. The salt/sweet/savory is unexpected. It’s about taking flavors and using them in unique ways. Chocolate can have a savory twist to it!
