reeses pretzel cookiesreeses pretzel cookiesreeses pretzel cookiesEvery year my family goes cookie crazy around Christmas. I’m not kidding…we give Cookie Monster a run for his money by baking hundreds of cookies for just the four of us. Granted a few are given to our grandparents and served at holiday parties, but for the most part they’re alllllll ours. Yup. And we wonder why we pack on the pounds. Go figure! Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that we bake everything from gooey chocolate chip to little butter cookies…but every year I like to spice it up and make a batch with unconventional flavors. This year I chose to combine Reese’s (the best candy) and pretzels (the most addictive snack) into a delicious bite sized snack. So I hit the kitchen and less than an hour later, the recipe for Reese’s Pretzel Cookies was born. :)

The name sounds super tasty, doesn’t it? Well, all you gotta do is chop up the peanut butter cups and crumble up pretzels before mixing all that goodness into a simple cookie batter. If you’re anything like me, you’ll end up eating globs of batter throughout the entire process…so feel free to make a little extra! The key to bringing these cookies to life is the tiny bit of peanut butter in the cookie dough. It’s so freakin’ good and takes everything to the next level.

Now you might be thinking to yourself that pretzels will make the cookies too salty. WRONG! I totally thought ahead, decreased the amount I’d normally use, and everything worked out great :). If you’re still a little hesitant about the salt, feel free to use unsalted butter (even though regular works perfectly). They even stay crispy, so you get a nice crunch. Omg I love it. Anyway, that’s the recipe for today…in the comments below, tell me your favorite type of cookie!

2 1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

10 oz peanut butter cups (miniatures)

4 oz thin pretzels

2 sticks of butter (room temperature)

1 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulate sugar

2 eggs

1 tablespoon peanut butter

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit .

While the oven preheats, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium sized mixing bowl. Chop the peanut butter cups, add to the bowl. Using your hands, break up the pretzels and add to the bowl. Mix to combine.

In another bowl, add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter. Mix until light and creamy. Beat in the eggs one at a time and add in vanilla extract.

Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir until well incorporated.

Scoop a tablespoon of the cookie dough and put onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (if you do not have parchment paper, I recommend spraying with a non-stick spray). Continue to put dollops of dough onto the sheet, about 1 inch apart.

Put in oven and bake until golden brown, around 10-12 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool slightly before handling.

Enjoy!
