christmas coalchristmas coalI totally forgot to post last Friday…whoops. I hope you guys forgive me!

So before you guys begin to think I’m more of a Scrooge than I actually am, this isn’t real coal! Don’t worry, I wouldn’t actually give someone a cold rock for Christmas (well…depends on the person haha). See, my friends and I have the tendency to joke around a lot…and lets just say that the majority of our conversations tend to be pretty inappropriate. I’ll spare you the details, but very little is out of line for us. When we go out, the people that over hear us probably think we need to institutionalized. We’re a wacky bunch, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Anyway, since Christmas is tomorrow, I wanted to post something fun for all my friends who have been naughty this year. However, since most of them aren’t fond of spending hours in the kitchen, I wanted to keep it simple. So this Christmas Coal recipe is for them…simple, easy, and sweet. Think of it as a rice krispie treat made with Oreo cookies. Yup, it’s a ball of deliciously dense marshmallow and cookie goodness that makes the perfect dessert on-the-go or a fun stocking stuffer. Prepare it like you would a regular marshmallow treat and in no time you have coal that kids of all ages will beg for.

Merry Christmas everyone…and happy cooking! :)

3 tablespoons butter

1 bag marshmallows

1 pack of Oreos

Put all the Oreos into a bowl and crush into pieces (about the size you would want to sprinkle on your ice cream). Reserve.

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter and add marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted and remove from heat immediately. Stir in the crumbled Oreos until thoroughly combined.

Pour into a 9×9 inch dish that has been sprayed with nonstick spray.

Cool and then cut into squares.

Enjoy!
