The classic chocolate chip cookie. So good. So timeless. However…I slip in a little cinnamon and nutmeg to give it an unexpected update that’s always a crowd pleaser!
2 ¼ cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 sticks of butter (room temperature)
1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
½ cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon honey
1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit .
While the oven preheats, thoroughly mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices in a medium sized mixing bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips. Set to the side.
In another bowl, add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter. Mix until light and creamy. Beat in the eggs one at a time and vanilla extract and honey. Continue to mix until it has a creamy consistency.
Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir until well incorporated.
Scoop a tablespoon of the cookie dough and put onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (if you do not have parchment paper, I recommend spraying with a non-stick spray). Continue to add balls of dough onto the sheet, about 1 inch apart.
Put in oven and bake until golden brown, around 10 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a cooling rack.
Enjoy!

These cookies turned out great! The cinnamon really made them stand out in the crowd and they won over a tough crowd: patients in an eating disorder clinic! If they gave them the seal of approval, you know they’re tasty.
