Everyone always buys those premade oatmeal packets, even though it’s so easy to make from scratch! Sure the packets are tasty, but the brand names are either too sweet or not sweet enough or tastes processed. Since you probably have oats, sugar, and milk lying around your pantry – just take 5 minutes to make fresh oatmeal! I like to stir in some applesauce (I love applesauce haha), but feel free to omit it and increase the milk by ¼ cup. If you like your oatmeal thinner, just increase the amount of milk. Topping it with fruit is a MUST!! Fresh or dried fruit on this oatmeal is heavenly! Make it healthier by decreasing the amount of sugar and adding honey instead!

1 ¼ cup milk

¾ cup rolled oats

½ cup applesauce

1½ tablespoon light brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

½ tablespoon butter

Pinch of salt

Put all the ingredients into a sauce pan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently for 5-7 minutes.

Garnish with diced apple, dried cranberries, and golden raisins.

Serve hot.

Enjoy!
