It’s game day and you want to serve something that will impress your friends but has minimal work and ingredients? Make fresh tortilla chips! It’s an added touch to any party that shows your guests you took the time to care! You can season them with whatever seasonings you love and use any tortilla flavor you can’t resist!

1 quart vegetable oil

1 package of tortillas (I used sundried tomato)

Sea salt

Ground black pepper

Garlic powder

Add the vegetable oil into your fryer or a sauce pan (approximately 360-375 degrees Fahrenheit).

Cut the tortillas into your desired shape. I like the traditional triangle – fold tortilla in half once, then in half again. Cut in half, unfold, stack, then cut in half again. Wah-la! Instant chips. Prick with a knife so they can remain flat.

Put a few chips at a time into the hot oil and cook for approximately 30 seconds. Flip and cook for 30 seconds more, or until crisp.

Remove the chip from oil with a slotted spoon/spider. Place on a paper towel lined plate so the excess oil can be absorbed. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder while warm. Continue this process until all the chips are fried.

Serve with salsa or chutney.

Enjoy!
