I recently took a walk down a grocery store aisle I rarely visit – the snack aisle. Don’t get me wrong, I love to snack, but typically prefer to make my own munchies. Anyway, I noticed how many classic American snacks now come in 100-Calorie Snack Packs. I guess the low calorie diet trend is a bigger market than I thought. So I got to thinking….how can I make a super low calorie version of a common snack food, but not skimp on taste or texture. I got home and decided to see if my lavash wraps would crisp up. After toasting in a dry pan, they did! Not only that, but I didn’t miss the fried goodness of a typical tortilla chip. These end up making great guilt-free chips, so I hope you try it out.
Heat a skillet over medium low heat.
Take the lavash wrap and sprinkle with salt/pepper. Using your hands, press the seasoning into the wrap.
Cut it into your desired chip shapes (classic triangle or squares…which is good for extra scoopage). Place about half of the chips into the skillet. Toast for around 2-3 minutes and then flip. Toast for 1 minute more.
Remove those chips and then add the rest of the chips into the pan.
Serve with salsa, dips, or just munch!
Enjoy!
